"ACHIEVEMENTS THAT MAKE DORAVILLE BETTER"
I have been honored to be the Mayor of Doraville for the past four years. Together, the Council, citizens, city employees, businessmen, and I have improved our City and made progress in Doraville's growth.
We have worked hard to make Doraville better, and some of our accomplishments include:
- Re-instated Police Chief John King when the City Council voted to replace our Chief of Police
John King and Mayor - Invested city funds at the highest rate of interest available
- Ensured that city funds are invested safely and securely
- Hired a qualified Librarian to replace our retiring Librarian
- Hired an independent auditor to eliminate discrepancies in previous audits
- Balanced the budget each year since January 2004
- Maintained the city's sound financial basis
- Established our Planning Commission
- Appointed an Ethics Board
- Qualified Doraville as a Certified City of Ethics
- Re-organized the Seniors Luncheon; the Seniors sponsored and AARP Defensive Driving Course and collected school supplies for our schools
City Employees Working On Drainage
- Clamped down on delinquent business tax and licenses
- Upgraded our Permit and Inspection Department
- Added a Storm Water Inspector
- Paved streets through LARP, prioritizing the streets needing to be paved
- Repaired drainage pipes on Raymond Drive and in English Oak Park
- Improved the Arena, Swimming Pool, and Parks
- Repaired the wall at the Police Department
- Lowered crime in Doraville, dramatically, in the past several years which is due to the efforts of our efficient Police Department
