The re-development of the General Motors property when the plant closes in 2008 is a critical issue
facing our city. We must keep our City financially sound by carefully monitoring and budgeting our
expenditure of taxpayer money, while we encourage new businesses and mixed use development in
order to offset the loss of revenue from the closing of the GM plant.
As a steward of City finances, I am committed to making the City a fiscally-responsible municipality.
I am acutely aware of the importance of planning to achieve short-term and long-term goals in a
manner that gets the City the most benefit from its tax dollars.
